I thought I would make another card that actually followed the guidelines of the MIX21 challenge - to use the boldest colors you have at hand, then gently tone it back down with gesso, watered down white acrylic ink, or similar choices.
The focal image has about four layers of Distress Stain and Ink, acrylic paint, and gesso. I used Fired Brick, Dusty Concord, Wild Honey and Mowed Lawn on various layers. I went back in with watercolor pencils and a water brush to give a little more definition to the mountains and sky. The verse is from the Rubbernecker Flowers In The Breeze set and it's stamped with VersaFine Onxy Black. The flowers, from the Inkadinkado Meadow set, were stamped three times - with VersaFine Vintage Sepia, then shadow stamped with Colorbox Moss Green, and finally with VersaMark, heat embossed with clear ep.
The background is a gorgeous paper from the Recollections Habitat stack. I added the TH border in Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and added texture using Antique Linen Distress Paint applied with a piece of non-skid rubber material. It really soaked into the paper so it's hard to see. The large flowers were stamped with VersaMark and dusted with Green Patina and Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls. It looks kind of blue in the picture, but not IRL. I cut the center from a paper doily, sponged with Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap DI, then brushed on the same combination of Perfect Pearls.
This turned out so much prettier than it looks in the picture; I'm really pleased with it. And as always, thanks for looking!

WOW! Jody, this goes right into my favorites! I LOVE how soft and pretty this turned out!!! It is hard to image the colors dark when you started, but I have to say, where they ended up is so beautiful!!! I LOVE the doily you colored to match too!!! This is so inspiring to me!!! I know you say it is "prettier" in person, but I am not sure how that is possible. I LOVE it!!!
What a stunning card-so beautiful!! I love how you created so many layers. This on is going in my favorites so I can make sure I can look it over and over again. Thanks for sharing a 2nd card!

All the layers add great depth to the focal piece. Your colors and subtle influence with watercolor pencils is amazing! Thank you so much for playing my challenge!
