I made this for my hubby's birthday in April and finally have time to upload. I used melted crayon for the spatter effect, embossed the skull in silver and used a sharpie to color the eyes and swirls.

The melted crayon looks great. I should imagine it's much more controllable than water, too, which sounds just up my street. Your silver-embossed skull makes me think of that Damien Hurst (sp?) "art" piece of a skull embedded with diamonds. I think yours is prettier, though .
