A quick THANK YOU to all who will send my sweet Mom, who has been so ill, a birthday card (her b.d. is 6/9.) Sheri will be sending info in the Teapotter Gazette newsletter (I think it comes today?) IF YOU DON'T GET THE NEWSLETTER and would like to send my Mom a card, PLEASE pm me. Bless you!
Today's IC site is called Anything Preppy. I found a picture of a dress that I liked. At first glance it looked black and purple but it is actually pink and navy. When I opened the item for a better look, the picture was incorrect but the description appeared to be correct. Here is a link to the "Gals" page. The dress is on the left of the bottom row.
I used a pc of SU regal rose for my base. From SU night of navy, I cut a PTI hexagon cover plate cover, placed it on the card base. In regal rose, I stamped over it w/a Local King Rubber butterfly bkgrd stamp. I inserted some of the hexagon pcs. I added a pc of a SU vintage kit lace doily (RAK from my friend Kris) on which I stamped a Paper Smooches greeting. NOTE: stamped sentiment w/Versafine ink onto doily--it bled. Had to cut out pc of scrap white cardstock to match doily center and re-stamp it. For interest, inked edges of cardstock pc w/regal rose b4 placing. Attached a navy hexagon near the sentiment. From scrap dp, I cut a PTI flower shaped button and tied it with a PTI twine bow. Placed it.
#1 LESSON LEARNED: I was in a hurry and realized just when I started to score my cardstock base, that I forgot to put the score blade on--duh--but haven't we all done that?!? Anyway, I used clear scotch tape to repair the seam, not realizing at the moment, that the background stamp would not show up on the tape. :( I was going to put a pc of Tim Holtz music score paper tape over it, but it looked funky, in a bad way.
#2 LESSON LEARNED: On the flip-side, when I did stamp the butterfly bkgrd, I did it over the placed hexagon cover plate. Doing so gave a nice, patterned affect to the cover plate frame and darkened it up a bit.
THANKS for looking!

Oh very lovely! Oops on the scoring blade, but it looks great from where I sit. Please PM me with your mom's snail mail address. I hope she is on the mend very soon and would be delighted to send her birthday wishes.

Gabby, thanks for listing all your steps in creating this card...it's more complicated than it first appears. Really lovely colors and sweet butterfly designs. (My card is in the mailbox)

Great Inspiration card! Love your background - so clever to re-insert the hexagons!! And your "lessons learned" gave me a good laugh to start the day! TFS!
