Stacy(Twinshappy) asked me to create a sample for this month’s SCSCC using the theme of a holiday song. I blanched when she gave me the song, ”Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer”. (I’m of an age who likes “Silent Night”, “O Holy Night”, “12 Days of Christmas”, etc.)
This has to be my most UNfavorite holiday song…..for its premise, grammar, on and on. But a commitment is a commitment and a challenge is a challenge. I decided to stick with the parameters of the song, rather than doing a stately buck in a snowy field with a pine tree or two. I have no “drunken grandma” stamps and wouldn’t buy one if I saw one…so out with markers and pen. Using my rudimentary drawing skills, I sketched most of the card….except the reindeer’s hind quarters. I’m not good at drawing faces, so Grandma has hoof prints on her back instead of her forehead. : )
I also wanted to include the QFTD challenge since Stacy is the chosen queen for this week. My card is more an homage to this CARD of hers to show where the dear reindeer ended up.

Hee hee....I'll just bet you had a time with that theme! I would've too! Good for you for sticking with it....I have to say, I got a really good laugh from your write up, your awesome drawing skills (that looks EXACTLY like someone that just got run over by a reindeer, in my humble opinion), and your creativity. Yep....still chuckling...that's a good one, Sallie! This is going in my faves!

I think you did awesome on the song. Your free hand is rather great if you ask me. A different song I agree, but this turned out so fun. Maybe a co-worker or distant aunt would appreciate a punny card for Christmas. :0) Wonderful and fun!

I will disagree on one thing, I really like the song!!! Of course I also like the Battle of New Orleans and the Snoopy and the red baron song. (I am just a little warped) That said, I cannot believe that you free handed this card. It is just adorable. And who lands face up in the snow under these circumstances?? Great work!! TFS
Super cute!!! I am in awe of your drawing skills!!! I was too afraid to try hoof prints, I would have messed mine up for sure but you did AMAZING! Love your sentiment too!!! Terrific card!

Well, I must say you embraced the challenge with much grace and your creation just rocks it! I got a wonderful giggle out of your wonderful work and your description. No drunkin' grandma stamps in your stash, eh? LOL
