Free for all challenge is to create something for Mother's Day. This is a bit of a bittersweet day for me as I lost my mother almost 8 years ago, but yet I celebrate my own role as mother of my amazing 21 year old daughter. So I decided to make a Thank You card for all mothers out there - real or surrogate, still on this earth, or remembered in our hearts! They help to form us, guide us, and love us no matter what, and even though my own mother is no longer with me, her words and memories echo in my heart every single day!
Also decided to pair this challenge with Ways To Use It - using a technique I've never done. So I decided to do a faux tile after viewing the tutorial. After I coloured my image I realized that if I cut it into smaller tiles, I might lose the Thank you sentiment so I decided to make one large tile and embossed it with my Spellbinders square die. So far so good. Then I embossed it with clear powder 2x and it is REALLY SHINY in real life. Mounted it on some red cardstock and another layer of gingham cardstock that I distressed. Added some gingham ribbon on my blue card base and added some piercing to the corner. Again, so far so good. But what the heck is with this photo. What are all those blotchy spots in the corners? They're not on the card. I am SO bad at taking photos LOL. If you want a photo without your head - call me. It's my specialty! This will have to do.
Anyway - thanks for taking a peek! And Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there - and big hugs to anyone who is missing their mother this weekend!!

This is so adorable! I love your little teddy -- and the colors are so soft and pretty. I also love that perfect bow!

Laurie, what a beautiful card. It truly looks like a tile. I lost my MIL last year and this year it's bittersweet for us as well.

Great card! I love that you made a Mother's Day card; I lost my mom ten years ago so I've never made one. Lovely idea! Your coloring is beautifully done and I love the distressed gingham mat layer.
