This is for Mixability Challenge 13 - Mr. Squiggle. I have more dots here than squiggles, hence the name. This is another card made entirely of pre-existing scraps and stamped-and-then-unused BGs, with the exception of the white on black circle things and the yellow flourish (and now that I have discovered Cheery Lynn dies will someone please tell me how to glue them down without losing my mind?). My BG is the CAC Large Paisley stamped in Vintage Sepia on Very Vanilla, with a smaller leftover bit of CAC Grid (Versafine Onyx on Aqua Mist)on top. That Distress piece is an edge from something bigger I had used up, and I had the powder blue Zinged flower lying around waiting for a home. I have to say that my favorite part of this card is the center of that blue flower - I'd grabbed a scrap of Ocean Tides to punch out a center for it, and when the punched piece popped out it fell "wrong" side up on my table, revealing a fragment of an image which had been stamped in Memories Unicorn who knows when. I loved it, so I went in and added the dots to finish it off with my Signo gel pen. A most happy accident, and it inspired the three white on black dot flowers (more Signo gel pen) that run up the Distress piece. There actually ARE some squiggles here - along the side of the vertical Distress piece, also done in Signo gel pen. See?
I might do another of these. Maybe a "messier" one. What I love about these challenges is that they bring out the messy, collage-y part of me, usually. Not so much today, though.
Thanks for looking!

I love the fact you're using scraps to make something so fabulous! Those dots are perfect and your colour combo is so appealing. I know what you mean about glueing your CLD flourish down!!

Ooh, this is gorgeous. Yes, you're right about our doodling being the same but yours looks better. I love the black and whites, too.
I keep the thin areas of my dies down with my Zip Dry glue. I get a dab with my paper piecer and run over the thinnest areas. Otherwise, if the die is thick and can take Scor-Tape, I use that.

Thanks for all the details, which really make me appreciate a card so much more. I was just thinking that this was a nice not-messy mixed media card, then I read that you want to make one that IS more messy. Arrgh! I'm impressed how all the colors and patterns work so well together. The blue flower and center are pretty, and i too congratulate you for using scraps. That's one of my goals for this year - to look for scraps first.

Rachel. this is AWESOME! I LOVE the background stamp; your colors are fabulous, and the flower center is the first thing that caught my eye. WOW! BTW, I use spray adhesive on a lot of my die cuts - there is a forum thread about that somewhere on the site...

Beautiful, Rachel, I love the aqua against your soft brown paisley, (especially the contrast between the grid paper and soft flowing lines in the paisley) and the distressed strip is gorgeous. I'll have to try to find time for this challenge because it's one that WILL be a challenge for me.
Dies - for small ones somebody gave me a little Xyron sticker maker which is great. Sometimes I stick my card to a sheet of double-sided adhesive before cutting. Otherwise I use a Zig pen; with something like that big flourish I don't worry about it all being stuck down. You can well secure the base because of the flower over it, and then just a dab of glue on the leaves and at the very tip does it. But you might be more of a perfectionist ;-).
