The Mixability challenge for last Friday was to look at the color wheel, then use warm colors with a pop of cool; or cool colors with a pop of warm. I chose the latter, making most of my card cool green and a little cool blue, with one big POP of warm red. Of course we were also to make it mixed media. I used ink, chalk, Copics, and ep.
You'll never guess where I got the inspiration! At the beginning of the Rachael Ray TV show is a quick clip of a bunch of green apples with one red one. I got a new apple stamp from Michael's bargain bin a month or two ago and knew that it would fit this challenge perfectly.
I stamped & masked & stamped & masked the green (cool) apples, then colored with Copics. It took me forever to get them the right color with a bit of highlight so they looked 3d. Then I stamped and colored one more for the red (warm) apple, colored it, and fussy cut the apple & leaves to place on top. Then I used Versamark to stamp the flourish and colored it with chalk. I still am not comfortable with chalk, so this was the challenge part of the card for me. I added the blue (cool) sentiment with embossing powder, which didn't heat-set real well for some reason. Added a few blue (cool) dragonflies, rounded two corners and placed on a green (cool) layer which was all attached to my white cs base. The dragonflies were from my pre-punched stash.

Val, you did a great job on this card! Your apples are wonderful - getting highlights in the right spot just give me fits, lol. And the flourish is beautiful, VersaMark and chalks is one of my favorite techniques! Love the sentiment!
