On this flower I used a Prisma color pencil for the whitewashing. This one does not work like the watercolor pencil, as the Prisma pencil has a waxy finish. So you don't get the nice blending capabilities, but you do get a nice richness from the blending of Tombow markers, and a nice sheen from the waxiness.
So in the end, I have found that using a watercolor pencil best resembles the aqua brush and white pigment ink whitewashing technique. The best part, is that you prety much eliminate the pilling from over wetting your paper.
Give these techniques a try and see which one you like best. They all have their own look and use!

I don't know...I think I like this one the best. I don't mind seeing the pencil marks it makes it look like veins in the flower. They are all lovely but maybe it's the purple that swayed my decision. Fabulous technique though.
