Several months ago I read an article in the Sunday magazine section of our newspaper. It featured a teacher in Minnesota who sponsors an after school club - the Kindness Club. The students make greeting cards to send to people who have some special need. As I read the article, I thought that her club is doing just what our TeaPot Party members do - and she is training children (first graders) at a young age to be thoughtful, kind and caring.
Long story kind of short - this week we are creating cards to send to Barb and her club members in Evansville, MN. Mothermark, Cindy, sent many of us large apples to include - we add our names, and Barb will include a student name on each. This is a great way to honor a dedicated, creative teacher, and to show her students that their good deeds will have an impact.
Our story this week is about the adventures of Sadie Lynn and Sallie Lou - as they seek the perfect apple in the orchard. You can see on my card the great selection they had. Fortunately, after they totally lost their way, the parade of school buses came along to rescue them. I encourage you to make more sense of this by checking out the TeaPot challenge thread this week.
Confession - I knew I had to use my apple DP, so I made another apple (gasp - I CUT it out!), and will enclose another along with a few goodies for the students to use.
The layout is the Verve sketch this week. I made it 5.5x8.5, as the apple is quite large!
This challenge is for a colorful card: http://delightfulsketches.blogspot.com/

Thanks for bringing this teacher and class to our attention. I realize those with health problems find our cards uplifting but it is uplifting to me every once in a while to make a card for a cheerful cause.
