Perhaps it's a bit odd to be decorating a new calendar now, in the middle of April, but I needed one I could fit in my purse and I happened to have 10 kid-free minutes to stop in at Staples the other day. The calendar had a plain black cover to begin with, and I thought it would be fun to try and dress it up a bit.
I started by covering it with some of the Tea for Two dsp and added an Island Indigo ribbon for a bookmark, with a clock ornament from the Tea Time trinkets tied to the bottom as a weight. I added a brad to the front and back covers, and tied some baker's twine to the back one so that I could loop it around the front one as a closure. I added a little tassel to the end of the baker's twine and a little scalloped circle with the new 7/8" punch under the front brad.
I used the negative from a diecut of the labels framelit, and gessoed the shape onto the front cover. Then I stamped over this with the frame and numbers from Memorable Moments to mark the year. I finished by adding a yellow ribbon along the spine for durability (I wish I had finished the edges a bit better though.)
I'm looking forward to using this and getting a bit more organized. Hoping it holds together for the rest of the year!
