Other Supplies: Journal, lace, gold embossing powder, shimmer sprays, Mod Podge, Gesso, Glossy Accents, glass accents, black acrylic paint, hot glue gun, Spellbinders Les Papillions and Wrought Iron, string, trim pieces, paper doily, white card stock for flowers
Instructions: I started by gluing various pieces of lace. doily and trim to the cover using Mod Podge. I also added the glass half beads at this time. Next I cut out all the flowers and leaves, then I stamped them and embossed with the gold embossing powder. I did this because I knew I was going to paint and spray over these pieces and I wanted some dimension of the stamping to show through all the layers that were going over them. I wet my flowers and leaves, shaped them and set aside to dry. Once dry I glued to the cover. Next I cut out the fence and the butterfly and glued them to the cover. Now it is time to play. I painted everything with white gesso being careful when painting the flowers and leaves so the stamping would still show. Once this was dry I started spraying shimmer sprays. Here is where you can get creative. Just pick a few colors and decide where you want them and spray! When this was dry I took black acrylic paint and did some highlighting and then back over that with some white Gesso, letting some of the dark paint show through. Next I sprayed some more color to the area that I felt had gotten washed out with the painting. Once dry I liked where I was with it and declared it finished. This is the type of project that you can just let your imagination run wild, play with color until it suits your eye and the more you add the better. I love it!
