Lydia gave us a fantastic Mix challenge! She asked us to walk into a construction zone - using METAL. Try to use some form of metal with acrylic paint or alcohol ink or another coloring medium, and if you want - sandpaper for distressed texture.
I got to try a couple of new things with this kooky card. The first was to use tinfoil in an embossing folder. The second was to paint the tinfoil with blue metallic acrylic paint. Then I dropped some alcohol distress inks onto it. It was a little clumpy at first, so I wiped a little off and found out it took off the acrylic paint too! No worries. Then I added a little more, being careful not to add so much. I also added a little black Stays-on ink. I used the rectangle deckled die to cut out the section I wanted to use and then fussy cut the top.
This card will be sent to my son who has to look for an "inexpensive" apartment at the end of the semester.
What a great time learning about how these different mediums work with each other! Thanks Lydia! Thank you for taking a peek too!

Cute chickies, Kathleen, and I simply love what you've done with your embossed panel - the warm feel of the yellow house contrasts amazingly with the blues.

WOW..you really got into the mixed aspect of this challenge and also the "construction" theme! Sounds like you had a lot of fun...your blue cityscape is AWESOME and I love the silly chick-cheep parts of this. Cool way to use your accents and words/lettering..your son is going to crack up but he probably knows he has a mom with a great sense of humor!!!

This is sooooooo whimsical and FUN! I love your use of complimentary colors - I was studying the color wheel with my daughter last night and we talked about that very thing.
