Today Cathy had us use sponging on our cards. I LOVE sponging on my cards in fact it is my first choice of how I add color......details....
Right off I knew what technique I was going to use, the retiform grid technique only with a slight Mutnik twist.
For my masking edge, I just ripped a piece of paper, laid it down on cs and started my sponging, turning the panel and moving the paper. I chose three colors to do my sponging with and continued to lay the colors down leaving the center open for whatever.
My whatever ended up being this cute mouse stamp I bought awhile ago. Colored him with re-inkers and a copic pen. Stippled the sky behind him after adding the doodled circles.
Once done I put my panel on an orange card and added more doodles. I think my sponging resembles ribbons being wrapped around and around and around. What do you think?
Since he looks like he is looking inside, the sentiment might be "just checking in on you". OR ......give me some ideas! hehe .....Have a great day! TFL :0)

Your little mouse looks snug as a bug in his house! As cute as he is...so happy he's not in mine *grin*. Your sponging does indeed look like some hand dyed seam binding! I think he's nabbed it to decorate or perhaps insulate his house.

I love the retiform technique. The colors you used are fabulous, Cathy. I love, too, that little guy with his fun hat!!

That's a pretty interesting way to sponge; so different, and isn't that a nice change from the norm! I'm not familiar with this technique, but it looks cool on your card, and the mouse critter is so sweet~
