Here is my book page for dizzymommie's Mixability challenge - What's WHITE and Read All Over This photo I took with all the products I used - I will print this and stick it on the back of the page as a reminder.
I think I'm getting more brave because I did the challenge directly in my book. Maybe that was stupid because vellum wasn't the right choice for the paper and I had to do it all over, but it's all about playing, right? Here's what I did...
I printed LilyPink Designs' Pick a Number stamp on vellum card stock from Stampin' Up! (I think - it was in my stash). I tore the edges because I love the look of torn vellum and attached it to my Multi Media spiral book by Canson with Matte Multi Medium by Ranger - that stuff dries really clear! Then, I colored with Gelatos by Faber-Castell (I think I may have a gelato problem/addiction), blending each color with a baby wipe before applying the next. I used 4 colors total. I colored the upper-right "square 1" with Siren Smooch by Clearsnap, and the lower-left "square 1" with Moonlight Smooch, and blended each with a dry sponge. Then, I realized that wasn't all that cool and I think I wasn't doing the challenge right that I only used 3 colors of red, not 3 mediums with red, so I started on my second attempt at this challenge.
For my "make-up" attempt, I printed another image from LilyPink Designs called Live, Laugh, Love on color laser copier paper this time. I colored the heart with a Red Scarlet Big Brush pen by Faber-Castell, then went over it with Siren Smooch by Clearsnap, again blended with a dry sponge (recycled the one I used above ). Then, I went around the outside of the heart with a Metallic Melon Gelato. Then, I took some Painterly Pink Studio paint by Ranger and put a small blob (what's the real word for that??) on my Craft Mat, add some water and painted it around the edge with my Water Brush by Faber-Castell. Then, I spritzed the whole thing (including the failed attempt above) with "Pearlized Water" - I think that my be a Jennifer McGuire trademark, but it's Pearl Perfect Pearls mixed with water (and shaken VERY vigorously). I put mine in a Mister Bottle by Ranger because it's pretty big. The whole thing is VERY sparkly in real life.
I wasn't quite done playing with stuff just yet. To the failed attempt, I added Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint by Ranger to the "5" in the middle, and then hit set it (because I'm not patient in the least). When it was dry, I covered it with Bubble Gum Gelato by Faber-Castell. To the "better" attempt, I added a highlight to the heart with Gesso by Ranger. I actually used my finger for this, but I think I should've diluted it with water first for a more sheer look.

Love your story, your bravery, your playful attitude, and the resulting journal page. I did the same thing last week -- played like CRAZY. I still have scraps all over the place, but only one final product resulted.
Love all the products you played with -- I think you nailed the essence of this challenge. Try, play, discover, and share.
Oh my gosh this is amazing! Love the look of this. I am going to have to Google some of the things you mentioned in here. This mixed media is pretty new to me. Fun!

Fabulous art pages! I love all the little details of how you made this ..sometimes I use so many different things I forget. It's good that you got out your vellum (I used vellum today, too)...you've got to try a lot of different techniques to see what works.

Wow! Fabulous piece of art, Michelle! Your description truly depicts what it's like to play with the different mediums...some work, some don't...but this went together in fabulous fashion!

That looks just amazing! Interesting to know about the matte medium - did it not cause the vellum to cockle? I'd love a good way to attach vellum! Those colours are simply gorgeous!
