 | | It is called a mix-ability challenge, and we were to use a matte and a shiny medium. As long as I was challenging myself, I thought I'd give vintage a try, since I'd never done that before. And, oh boy, was I ever challenged, with lots of false starts!
I chose paint for the matte, dragging my brush along the edges of the tag which I hand cut, and dabbed paint on the flowers,too. I printed the label and quote, then fussy cut, and edged it with a Krylon gold pen. I used the same pen to alter the colour of the key, and that turned out to be rather matte. I used a shiny gold outline butterfly sticker on a scrap of vellum, and coloured the back with a blue marker. Added smaller butterflies punched out of shiny gold cardstock. I tried to age the lace with a reinker.
Supplies:
Staples white cardstock, vellum, cheap thin watercolour paper for the flowers, gold cardstock, green Bazzill for the leaves;
Distress ink for flowers and leaves: tumbled glass, worn lipstick, peeled paint, brushed corduroy; vintage photo around the edges of the tag; antique linen reinker to dye the lace;
Other stuff: Folk Art acrylic paint in Taffy for the edge of tag; Krylon gold pen; key charm; ribbons; lace; gold embroidery thread; sticky-backed half pearl; a pearl spray; freebie vintage label downloaded from Far Far Hill; Martha Stewart butterfly and leaf punches; McGill punches for flowers. The outer two layers of the large flower and the mini roses I hand cut using a 6 petal flower template I downloaded from the internet. |
