Here is my first tag in the series for the mixed media challenges. It's not much to look at, but it's about the technique, not the design... SO EXCITED for these!!! Here's how this tag breaks down...
The Artist Palette & Brush Die-Namics by MFT was cut with my NEW eBosser out of New Leaf paper by First Edition Papers, and then it was painted with White Gesso by Ranger, then painted with Classic Teal Studio Paint by Ranger. Then, Technique Tuesday's Love Makes the World Go Round heart was stamped in VersaMark, and then embossed with red embossing powder from Wow! (something I found cleaning out Summer CHA stuff for Winter CHA
The Fancy Label Framelit by Sizzix was cut with my FUN eBosser at the same time as the artist palatte - LOVE THAT! Oops, back to mixed media... It was colored with Chocolate & Butterscotch gelatos by Faber-Castell and blended with a baby wipe (by Target ). Then, I painted Gloss Studio Multi Medium by Ranger over top. Shiny on top of matte doesn't have the same WOW factor, but still cool.
The torn paper was first embossed with the Honeycomb embossing folder by Sizzix and then painted lightly with White Gesso. I think next time, I'm going to try to paint with White Gesso first and then emboss, and maybe thicker layer... hmmmm... anyway, back to the tag... the same Technique Tuesday heart was stamped with VersaMark and embossed with pink embossing glitter by Wow! (more summer CHA goodies)
And finally, the leaves... when I saw the challenge, I saw "mix matte with shiny", and so I did, literally. I mixed Black Gesso by Ranger with some old chunky glitter, I think it's by Stampin' Up! It looked like a hot mess, but I was determined to make it work! I expected the sparkle of the glitter to show thru, but it didn't, so I added Metallic Mint gelato (my FAVORITE color, so it should fix it) and blended it with a baby wipe. And lookie there - it did fix it! I cut them out with the Royal Leaves Die-Namics by MFT.

I'm glad you persevered with this and didn't give up at the first hurdle when you thought you had a hot mess. Those hot messes can be turned into something great, just as you have done here. You made it look great.
