 | | This was my attempt to play along with TLC414, Play with Balance challenge. Instructions for the challenge were to pair something too big with something too small.
Since I have been fixated on tulips, and all things spring (probably because there is no sign of spring here and no sign of any tulips popping their noses out of the ground!) Anyway, back to tulips! I picked a favorite stamp from SU A Flower for all Seasons set - a tiny basket of tulips with a wee birdie. I decided to create my own monster tulip to use as a card base for this tiny stamp.
The monster tulip was made by hand cutting a large leaf shape to make the tulip petals. I cut 3 pieces of the shape out of 2-sided dp. The center petal was flipped to show the back side of dp (also gave it some texture with a Cuttlebug ef). After sponging the edges, the monster tulip was assembled and placed over an off-white folded card base. I traced around it with pencil (had to set the folded card a bit inside the tulip outline to allow a portion of the folded edge to remain intact). After cutting the card base, the monster tulip was taped to the front.
The stamped and colored tulip basket was cut with a nestie oval and then layered on a Nestie Lacey Oval cut from the remaining dp. These were popped up on the banner strip and then added to the front of the monster tulip.
Whew hope all that verbage made sense! Thanks for taking a peek at my tulip card. Hope it's looking like spring where you are! |
