This week on Merry Monday, Lesley (lionsmane) is asking us to do a Christmas card with a bird theme. My bird was originally going to be just stamped, heat embossed, and cut out with a Nesties circle, but I got a splotch of gold ink where I didn't want it, so decided to fussy cut the bird and then layer it on the circle - I like the end result as the bird slightly extends beyond the circle.
I did another variation where I didn't get an unwanted splotch of ink so didn't have to fussy cut it. Not sure which one I like best!

I think it's a good thing you got a splotch on your card! The fussy cutting allows the design to hang off the circle a bit and gives it a very elegant look. I love gold and white Christmas cards! Thanks for sharing it with us at Merry Monday, Susan!
I'm a huge fan of fussy cutting (usually because I've done the splotch thing too!) so I really love this embossed bird. Love the cleanness of your card too! Thanks for joining us at Merry Monday this week!

Like I always say...there are no mistakes...just creative opportunities! This is a fabulous alternative to your original plan. I love how the bird goes outside the circle. Gives your card added interest without losing the simplicity of the design! Absolutely love it.
