A big CONGRATS to Janelle, the Featured Stamper! What a wonderful gallery she has! There are many I wanted to case, but I kept coming back to her Booked & Twitterpatedcard. I loved the text under the gesso and stamped images. I love it as is, but since I had to change a couple of things, I used different images and slightly different colors and added a couple of buttons.
The images are from DRS Designs. Janelle used gesso and I know I have some, but some days it just isn't worth the time and effort to try find what I did with it. This was one of those days, so I used what I could put my hands on quickly..white acrylic paint. I used a color named White Wash and thinned it a bit w/ water. I encountered another problem with my book page. I wanted an aged looking one and the only one I knew was around was in one of my parrot's cages. Don't ask, lol. I don't think he's actually reading it, but who knows. Anyway I tore out a couple of his pages and they weren't quite wide enough because I had to trim off the parts he chewed up. So mine is a pasted together version I glued to a piece of vanilla card stock. After the white washing, I stamped the images, colored w/ Prismacolor pencils and drew the frame w/ a black pen. One more problem I had was that my card front was white. So I sponged it w/ vanilla and angel pink inks then added a little of the white washing so it would match the image panel.
I still prefer Janelle's version, but my little troublemaker version has a certain shabbiness to it that's growing on me.
Thanks so much for looking and for reading, if you made it this far. I My blog:The Write Stuff. Sorry! I had to delete a bunch of really old posts from my blog & this is one of them.

Super cute card! Thoughtful tribute to Janelle! Love the painted bookprint and the added pink. It does have a bit of shabby to it and I like it, too. Nice work!

Wow - great card Julie! Your trouble with the book print page paid off I think... just the right amount of shabby to show through and you can't tell that your parrott already had his turn with the pages either, haha!
Love your colouring too. Thanks for the inspiration, Rx

I love everything about your card. Thanks so much for explaining how you used the acrylic paint. I immediately wanted to know when I saw it. This is so pretty.
