This Saturday, a dear SCS friend Sallie, chose the IC site MacKenzie-Childs and is a guest designer for the challenge. As I perused the site, I found a few items that I was inspired by, these slippers for the flower http://www.mackenzie-childs.com/New/...d#.UOirX2HMNJE
and this plate http://www.mackenzie-childs.com/Tabl...d#.UOisrWHMNJF.
I combined both of them into this card.
The weaving was done with one inch strips, adhesive sheet applied to the back, and cut with the sold heart in the fancy heart set from Cheery Lynn. Once all edges were adhered, I went around it with a gold pen.
The flower is made using one of the flowers on the tattered flower die by Tim Holtz. I believe there are 12 layers to this flower. While sewing the button on and layers together, I also sewed a pin to the back. So the recipient will be able to take the flower off the heart and wear it. Once the flower is all sewn up, I spray it with spray starch, soaking it real good, wring it out and blow it dry while while shaking, and fluffing. The flower is attached to a strip of ribbon that I looped from the back of the heart.
Love is embossed in gold to match the edging on the heart.
There's a heart on the inside with the same weaving pattern.

Oh my goodness, how creatively done!!!!! I was fascinated to read how you starched this beautiful flower and fluffed it up - truly a labour of love, and totally worth it, Jennifer. The checkerboard bg is so elegant with the gold edging! This is really special.

I like the weave, color combo and what a clever idea for the flower which is so pretty!
I also liked the gold edge which reminds me that my gold and silver pens sure would like some attention, I did shake them last week to make sure the ball doesn't get stuck but I think they want more love than that.

Jennifer, this is fantastic! Quintessential MacK-C with that checkerboard heart. Love how your creatively constructed it and the gold edging is like the gold edges on some of the pottery with this design. Your flower with its fancy brad center is like e something they would do. A wonderful card!!
