Filigree and Flower

Photo Details
Poster: Rox71

For the inspiration challenge: when I saw this garden gate I knew exactly what I wanted to create. I had purchased a pack of filigree napkin rings on clearance last year, put them away while redoing the stamp room and forgot about them, that gate brought them to mind and here’s the card using one of them.

The napkin ring come flat and they hook together on the ends. Leaving it as is I glued it to the card with Aleene’s tacky glue and trim off each side. So nothing went to waste I put the two side pieces on the insert on the bottom right and left corners.

The Perfect Layers tools from Perfect Paper Crafting was used to cut the inside black border. Use any brand craft knife or rotary cutter for cutting. A tutorial video can be found on the company site. I also used their square tool to cut the red and black borders on the front which are strips of card stock glued to the card base. The took also came in handy when placing the left over filigree pieces on the insert.

The flower is cut with Spellbinder’s sunflowers Shapeabilities; I cut eight layers and glued them together using a white card stock for the center since it does get cut out of the flower, I then stacked on the silk flower added the brad which goes through the card base and to hide the prongs a smaller flower was glued over the them, you can see the flower and the insert in a direct link blog post here.

A portion of a Sizzix die was used to cut the flourish on the card and envelope.

The half pearls were attached to the card with Aleene’s Paper Glaze.

Roxie, I knew the garden gate without even looking at the link. Your card is every bit as fantastic!! That "grill" and beautiful flower are SENSATIONAL! BRAVA!!

Rox, this is stunning. The red, green and black pop right off the page against the white.
