The Dh got the tree put up last night ( it's just a little fake one), but it needed a tree topper. We have a beautiful Swarovski crystal star topper, but it's way too heavy to put on top of a tree (it will just be a decoration). So I decided to make my own topper, using the Memory Box Madera corner die and the Spellbinders star. The color you see is done with alcohol inks on a fancy c/s from HOTP.
Using the star is so much easier for me, for getting the Madera die cut centered fairly correctly. The star is the 3rd (middle) size of the 5 dies. The next smallest is just too small for this application, though I did use it for another snowflake.
Each point of the star is used for placement of the Madera dies. Once they are all adhered, let dry. Add another star of the same size for backing. To this you attach the floral tape wrapped wire that will be used for attaching to the tree top. This layer has dimensional adhesives holding it to the final star, that covers the wire. Now it is ready to attach to the tree top.

This makes a super beautiful tree topper as it is so delicate looking. But I bet it was hard to get out of the die. Sometimes it is worth all that work, though.
