Emergency Card Kit

Every year my Christmas gift to my customers is a workshop that I call "Little Gifties." In that workshop, I share ideas (and let them make samples) for little stamped gifts that don't cost much to make, but go a long way in showing someone you care about them.

This is one from my 2011 Little Gifties workshop.

The deets:

I purchased black totebags from Hobby Lobby and created a *first aid* type sign that said, *Emergency Card Kit*. I found the red cross on an image search. You could get fancy with this, but we spent our time on the cards and not on the bag. The sign was folded over the edge of the tote and stapled on.

Inside we put 13 different flat one-layer cards decorated to match the months of the year + one birthday card. If you would like to see these cards, see adjacent cards in my gallery. It was an ambitious project, but I knew my stampers were experienced and could handle it.

There was another gift option that day that used the same stamps and designs. Each stamper could choose a birthday calendar or this emergency card kit. (The calendar explains why my cards followed a seasonal theme.) I created one calendar and one card sample for each station. They used the same design, instructions, stamps and inks for either project.

Two things we did not have time to do in our 3 hour workshop, but would finish this gift ensemble nicely--

Add some black embossed punched pieces with assorted greetings on them. Your recipient can then match the greeting with the need for a card when the season is right to use each card. A whole year of card emergencies taken care of!

If you want to sweeten the gift even more, slip an RSVP Pentel pen decorated inside the barrel with DSP.

Pen Instructions: Cut matching DSP to 1 x 3 3/8" for the pen. Roll the paper around your bone folder to break down the fibers a bit. Now remove the ink holder from the pen and roll the paper around it. Slide the ink holder and paper down the barrel of the pen, then reassemble.
