I have a separate SMASH style book that I've used for travel and special events, but I wanted to start one more for general journaling. I took my stuff with me to a swim meet (long hot hours sitting in bleachers with nothing to do!) and used the limited supplies I had with me to throw together a couple of pages. The page on the left used materials from the meet's psyche sheets to journal about my kids' participation on their Y age group swim team the KOSY Sharks. The page on the right took advantage of the pre-printed center piece and I zentangled about cell phones. My 15yo DD didn't get it, but my 74yo mother corrected her when she dissed me for making such a lame page explaining to her what a difference cell phones have made to our everyday lives.....go Grandma!! (My mom has had an Iphone since they first came out and has been texting longer than I!)
The whole smash book phenomena kinda cracks me up because my friends and I were doing this back in the late 70's with our school assignment books. I'd cut out newspaper and magazine words, use stickers, doodle, etc to decorate my pages.
