I played along with Sabrina's mini VSN challegne called Cozy Candlelight! She called for some soot stamping. I have only done this once before and forgot that if I spray my sealer too close to my image, I'm left with a splattered looking image. Maybe it just adds character! I sponged on some black ink around my card base to mimic the soot in the focal image too.

I think your accidental spatter effect is one of those serendipitous happenings, it looks SO perfect. And sponging round the edges on the base (and on the scoring) was such a neat idea to unify the whole card wonderfully.
