I wish October wasn't such a busy month for me so that I could participate more in the "Hope You Can Cling To Challenges" here on SCS. However, I have been inspired to try and put some cards together to take to our local cancer center (Southern Indiana.)
I have decided to send this card to my own mum, cancer survivor for more than sixteen years now. We don't get along well... she's not the "sparkle shine" kind of person I am and thus we clash quite often. I confess I don't show my support to her in ways I do most people because my support is never received well. I know I need to simply push passed how it's perceived and continue to show it. Afterall, Mother Teresa spoke it so well when she said, "If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway."
Hopefully, my confession and sharing will encourage someone else to reach out to the otherwise "unreachable."
Here is a link to the three challenges which inspired my card...

Lovely colors on this pretty card. Bless you for sharing your story. You have the right attitude and that's all that you're in control of, so you are doing the right thing by being kind. (I had a similar tough relationship with my Dad.)

I was touched by your story....send that card to your mom..I'm sure she will appreciate it if only in her own way. You are fortunate that she is a survivor..I lost my mom many years ago when I was in my 20's. You never know what each day will bring. It's a BEAUTIFUL card.

Your card is lovely, and so are you. You can be the best you can be, and that is all. How the recipient receives it is up to her. I sympathize - I have the same kind of relationship with my own mother. Just do your best and you'll know...that you've done your best.
