This is a birthday card for my DIL. She absolutely loves sailingÂ…and would really like to live on a boat.
I first cut an oval mask and I tried coloring the background with Distress inks but I kept getting unwanted lines in it so I got out my chalks. I know this looks like a very simple card but it turned out to be a real labor of love. I ended up re-chalking (recreating the background scene) 6 times. First re-do 1) I stamped the boat crooked, 2) I coughed and should have covered my mouthÂ….3) the mask wasnÂ’t down tight and so the oval was crooked, 4) the cuts on the paper was crooked, 5) I got one all together and glued down and realized it needed more blue showing on the 2nd layer, and the last time when I glued it down their was a lump of glue(from the glue runner) under the white layer that clearly showed and I couldnÂ’t remove it with out messing up the whole card. Normally I wouldnÂ’t have re-done this so many times but being for my daughter-in-law I wanted it to be just rightÂ… soooooooÂ….. The blue is actually more of an azure blue than my picture shows.

You're right...it looks like a CAS....but I understand that "simple" isn't always so simple. It is a beautiful card and your chalk shading is exquisitely done.
