Autumn Poly Deco Mesh Wreath

I've grown so tired of the hot weather that I decided to work on some Fall projects. It didn't make it any cooler here in FL, but I enjoyed thinking about Fall. Have ya'll joined in the deco mesh craze? I'd never heard of it until I visited my cousin a few months ago. She'd made wreaths for every Season, as well as several team wreaths to sell. I absolutely fell in love with them and had to try it myself.

There are several methods to making these, but for me, a good old Styrofoam form and floral pins were the way to go. There are several tutorials out there on You Tube. Here is the website to a company that sells both the mesh ribbon and wire wreath forms that have wire ties already attached : http://www.mardigrasoutlet.com/C181D...esh-Rolls.html. I'd also searched Etsy for inspiration and ran across this tutorial by Kristen's Creations using a grapevine wreath to make an Easter wreath: http://kristenscreationsonline.blogs...rial-2012.html.

Like I said, I found the foam wreath form and floral pins the easiest for me to get the hang of. The most popular mesh I saw used was the 21" wide. I just couldn't get it to look right for me. I prefer using the 5-1/2" wide just because it's much more manageable. I followed the steps in the tutorial by Kristen's Creations. Here's the products used in my wreath: 16" Styrofoam (brand) wreath form, Floral Craft floral pins, Hobby Lobby 5-1/2" wide Fall deco mesh ribbon; Offray 1-1/2" wide brown silk ribbon, Wal-mart plaid fall ribbon, Hobby Lobby wire edged Fall leaves ribbon, Hobby Lobby Robert Stanley collection 6" wide burlap ribbon; natural hemp by Cousin Corporation, 2 Mum floral picks from Hobby Lobby and Autumn Greetings sign from Hobby Lobby.

I had so much fun making this wreath that I decided I really NEEDED to make one for Halloween and Christmas LOL! If you happen to catch the deco-mesh bug, I went to buy supplies to make the other wreaths this week (8/29/12). Hobby Lobby had all of their ribbons on sale for 50% off, which included the deco-mesh ribbon. There, the 5-1/2" wide is normally $5.99. For a 16" wreath, it takes approximately 3 rolls of the 5-1/2" size, depending on fullness, etc. Thank you for looking!
