This past week the Twisted Sisters (I am one of their official groupies) had a challenge that just totally tugged at my heart. The challenge was to make a project that involved one of your favorite childhood memories and tell that story when you posted the project. I am telling you, the cards and bookmarks are beautiful but those stories got me. I just had to participate!!!
My image is from Dilly Beans and I think it is so sweet. I bought it because it reminded me of my sister and I when we were little - in one of the moments when we were not fighting of course. My mother loved to sew and made us the cutest matching dresses - we always had a new one around the holidays. One Christmas, she saw some cute green dresses at the store and she just had to buy them. We didn't have a lot of money, so this was a huge splurge - I want to say they were $50 for both and this was around 1967. She loved them, but we hated them. They had some kind of scratchy netting on the inside to make them fluff out and they were soooo uncomfortable. They also had this white lace at the neck that dug into your skin. I tried to replicate the dresses on this card.
You thought that was my memory didn't you? My favorite memories are of my llittle sister Sara. We were always very close and did everything together. She was a little sweetheart. She never lost her childlike sweetness and innocence even as she got older. We lost her in 1997, and I feel her loss so deeply I can't even explain it.
Thanks to the Twisted Sisters for this awesome inspiration. I was so inspired by this one! Hugz to you all!

Oh, Nancy, what an adorable card. A sweet image and I love how you have made those dresses to replicate the ones your mother bought for you even though you did not like them.
So cute how you put the bows and flowers in their hair. I am sorry about your loss of Sara. It sounds like you have a lot of beautiful memories. Thanks so much for sharing with us and joining us for the Twisted challenge. Hugs.

Nancy, what a sweet, sweet card and post. Many memories must have flooded back as you made this card. It is just darling, even if you didn't like the 'real' dresses. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Sistah! Oh, you had me laughing at those scratchy dresses! I remember them well! My heart was tugged to read about Sara. There is none closer than a sister, and I see you shared a heart with her. Lovely tribute, and precious card. You sure know how to put a hug on paper my friend. You are such a treasure! Lymimimi! <----to a level not bound by numbers! Hugs...

Nancy what a pretty card. I love all of the details. Your story was great. I lost my baby brother 5 yeas ago and I will always miss him. I love how you replicated the dresses. So glad you joined us.

Aw, Nancy. Your whole story really touched me. I was smiling at the dress story, 'cause I'm sure I had some of those dresses m'self! I survived some 60s and 70s outfits that I would NEVER put my kids through! LOL
But then to read about your sister.....ah. I am so sorry for your loss of her. I have a tear in my eye right now as I write this!

Now with all the memory and all the heart and soul you put into this gorgeous card, who on earth are you going to be able to send it too. I am telling you it is going to be hard to part with. I love all your fabulous details and the image is so very sweet. Everything about this is perfect-from the paper to the embellishements. Awesome. You lost your Sister the same year I lost my Dad.

Sweet Nancy - I am so glad you came with a memory so dear to your heart like this one is!!
I also remember the "scratchy" dresses, but my Mom made a lot of my clothes, so not so much 'scratchy ' stuff, but your Mom had a humongous amount of love to buy you those dresses, even though they were costly back then.
I love that you made the dresses look like the ones she bought for you and your sis, and the memories of Sara came flooding back. Keep those precious thoughts of her in your heart and all the smiles too. That is why God gives us all those great memories!
Just happy that you are here!! LYMI, my sweet Sistah!!
Hope you can feel the big hugs I am sending to you in this message!! Mmmmmwahhhhh!

This is the MOST ADORABLE card and yet sad too. But, it can serve to remind us of the times people are in our lives that are beyond special even when they are not with us any more. The truth is, they will always be a part of us. And, that's what I feel after looking at this amazing card sis! Okay, so I'm your adopted sis; but, I'll try to be a good one.
