Oh! It feels good to be back at SCS. I've had a rough summer with health issues, and my stampy time was limited. I made a card yesterday for my dear neighbor who is turning 50, and my friend Nancy (nwilliams6) told me about a Twisted Sister challenge that I should enter. It's TSC0817 - portray something in your childhood that has fond memories.
The ribbon I used here is vintage, from my grandmother before she passed away. It's at least 30 years old (and that's estimating on the safe side; it could be older), but looks very good. She kept her things in tip-top shape. I sure do miss her! My girls never got to meet her. She passed just months before my eldest daughter was born. I had such a wonderful relationship with her. She began crocheting a baby blanket for me using white (my request) yarn. I don't think she got very far into it when fate stepped in. Her older sister, Irene, took over from there so that I had a special blanket at the time of my baby shower. Sigh...such a fond, bittersweet memory. :o)
Thanks for looking!

Colleen, I am so glad you are here. Your card is so beautiful, and your sweet memory even more. I had to give a deep sigh to read about your grandmother's precious bit of ribbon, and my heart swelled to read about the love your aunt poured into that treasured blanket. What a beautiful family, and wonderful legacy. I am certain your grandmother would smile tenderly to see your heart on paper. Hugs...

Colleen, I love your beautifully made card and the fond memories that help create it for this challenge. The sentiment is so perfect because most of our ribbons is considered little things, but this one has a special meaning to you and definitely is a delight. Thank you so much for playing with the Twisted ones this week and thanks to Miss Nancy for telling you about our challenge. Hope you will play with us again soon.

Colleen, how sweet to see you card in this challenge. Yes, I am stalking the challenge (shhh don't tell anyone). I want to play in it sooo bad and I am trying to find some time to play. I am typing this while I cook dinner and trying to hurry dinner so I can try and start my card. For some reason this challenge is tugging at my heart - that darn Pat and Greenie and Shirt (and the rest of the TS) - they are always doing that to me!!! I know I already commented on your blog post of this card, but I just love, love, love how you used a bit of your treasured Grandmother's ribbon on this card. I brings tears to my eyes.... sniff... sniff.... hugz!!!

Colleen, what a treasure to have some of your Grandmother's ribbon to use on your card full of such loving memories - bittersweet I am sure, but all the loving thoughts that went into that blanket, no mater how little she was able to get done, and then her sister taking over to complete the 'dream' your grandmother had when she started it!! I did not have much of my grandmother's things, but I did inherit a lot of my Mom's treasures so I know how precious it is to have a little piece of the past like that!
So sorry I am just getting here, but weekends are when I try to catch up on what I miss!! SO glad I did not miss seeing this memory on paper - Hugs!!
