When I saw today's CAS challenge was a theme inspiration of fairy tale, I decided to upload one of the 140 invitations my family and I had just completed! My oldest daughter who is 22 is getting married in September and I can check one more thing off the to-do list! This was one of the many times that having a large family came in handy. Everybody pitched in to assemble the invitations (being a good home-schooled girl DD said at one point "Henry Ford would be proud of our assembly line" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assembly_line) and we had them done in about 4 hours....I even left them to finish off the last by themselves! One of Caitlin's college roommates who majored in art took my card layout and designed the text for us. I had them printed on postcard pages then still had a few cuts to make to shrink the card fronts to 4x5 1/4" but some of the work was done by the cards being perforated. My daughter did the stamping of the Medallion images in Elegant Eggplant. I used a double hole punch to make the holes in the top white card. DH and other kids adhered the front to an Eggplant base. Another daughter used the Crop-a-dile to punch through the base. Caitlin's fiance and my son's gf threaded the ribbons from the front to the back and my 15yo DD sent them back up to the front and trimmed the edges.
Caitlin and Zach have dated all through their college years and now that they've graduated are looking forward to their fairy tale day and living happily ever after! The theme words for their wedding (did you know couples have theme words for their weddings these days?) are whimsical vintage so they loved this design.
*Other than the wonderful family time together on the project, the other cool thing of the day was that my already opened roll of ribbon (that is retired and unavailable for ordering) had EXACTLY enough left for the cards we made!

First of all, Congratulations and I wish them many healthy and happy years together! Secondly, thank you for taking the time to tell us all the details! No, I did not know there were wedding theme words! And the whole assembly line description was wonderful! We got to learn how you made the invitations and meet some of the family!!! I think it is a beautiful invitation too! LOVE the eggplant medallion on white!!! So glad you shared!!!

Oh, Gail, how beautiful! I loved reading your assembly line story. How perfect for you to get everybody involved with this important project. The invitations look great, and I'm so glad you had enough ribbon to finish all of them! Congratulations on gaining another son!
