When I saw the VSN challenge Empty Nesters which talked about our journey as parents and challenged us to weave something on our cards, I thought of a plaque I made recently Monochromatic Mother's Heart by mamaxsix at Splitcoaststampers. This has been quite a season for me with my two oldest boys living away from home this summer and my DD getting married in the fall. Lots of changes coming up and I've been thinking about empty nesting quite a bit (of course, with 6 children I have a while before my nest will be TRULY empty but I do have some birds flying off!). ANYWAY, I started with a piece of vintage music....the Brahms Lullabye...and stamped the Medallion in the corner in Bashful Blue. I stamped my bird in Chocolate Chip on Natural Ivory....crumpled, tore and sponged it. I took 2 pieces of Black gingham and taped them onto my music (backed this with some scrap cs to give it stiffness) and wove a piece of Blue gingham with them. I sponged these ribbons with Soft Suede to go with my vintage feel. I chose not to add a sentiment and I layered onto a base of Soft Suede with a piece of dp.
