Joan challenged us to use half of something on our cards this week. My "half" is actually two LS Crafts Hexagons cut into halves - not very creative I know...
My twins graduate eighth grade on Friday. This card is for Benjamin, my Asperger baby. As any parent of a child with disabilities can corroborate, just getting everyone through breakfast and out the door can be a day's work. Ben has struggled with social issues throughout school but with lots of work and support he has made progress beyond my wildest dreams. Last week they got their yearbooks and to our surprise and delight, Ben was voted most unique in his (small) graduating class. I couldn't be more proud.
Blue & Gold are the school colors. PC generated the sentiment on CS from my stash. Cut and arranged the hexagons on blue CS embossed with Spellbinders So Trendy M-bossabilities. Stamped the Bees from SU Bees & Blossoms and embossed with the next smallest hexagon. Traced that hexagon inside the halves with my Copic multiliner pen. Added the quilled sticker, matted and mounted on a Summer Sun card and done. PT - 3
Thank you so much for looking. Have a peaceful day.

With six half hexagons, I think you win the prize for the most halves!!!! This is such a sweet graduation card...I bet Ben will treasure it!!!! Two of my children were born deaf so I know what it's like to treasure every step they make no matter how small or big!!!! Congrats to Ben and to you for being right there to help him on his journey!!!!!

Marie....This is one great card for one great young man, and his accomplishments. I love the design of your card. Grad cards always look great in the school colors. As I was looking at it. If it was done in black and white it would make a great soccer ball card. tfs

Marzi what a heart warming story-I have goose bumps. I am so happy to hear Ben is making progress and a great vote from his peers. Your card is adorable. How creative the hexagons are with the embossing. Happy Graduation!

Marie, your story is so heart-warming! Congratulations to both of your boys for graduating from 8th grade. That's quite a milestone! {My oldest heads off to 8th grade in the fall--how can that be??} And more congrats to Ben. Unique is where it's at!!!
Love the hexagons here (so on-trend!), and that cute little quilled bee is the perfect touch. Fabulous card--an awesome keepsake!!
