Fun challenge! I opted for the open around the image part. I've done this technique several times and next to out of the box, it's probably my fave. I just call it "into the window" since that sort of describes it for me. And I'm also adding this to the color challenge just posted. Can't believe I chose the right colors.
The images are DRS Designs. The cattails were stamped on the overlay and I used a ruler and craft knife to cut the window leaving them attached on the left. The crane scene was stamped and colored on the 5.50 x 4.25 card front then the window overlay was slightly elevated.

This is just GREAT!! I love the cattails cut away to make the window. This is one of my favorite techniques too---I've always just called it a cut away window.
