I'm under a lot of stress currently, but all of it is good stuff....graduations, birthdays, weddings. Still, it is great to decompress by getting creative and inky! Today's challenge for the Ways to Use It challenge is to De-stress and Distress (check out the challenge here WT373 - Don't Stress, Distress! (5/3/12) by tygerpaws11 at Splitcoaststampers. I love to distress and used some of my favorite tools and techniques to distress here. I started with a Soft Suede base and distressed the edges with the Cutter Kit distressing tool. I embossed some Night of Navy cs with the Houndstooth ef and then distressed the edges. I had a piece of old world map wrapping paper that I crumpled and sponged then used my Antique scissors to add a deckled edge. My image panel is stamped onto Natural Ivory cs with the manifest in stamped off Suede, anchor in Grey, compass in stamped off Artichoke and ship in Navy, the 50 is Early Espresso and the sentiment is Riding Hood Red. I crumpled and sponged with some Suede and used the scissors on the edge then sponged with Suede and Espresso. I inked my Distressed Texturz plate with Espresso and after spritzing my Espresso cs with water made my wood grain piece. I used yesterday's sketch flipped and added a denim strip with some twine and a vintage button.
Can't believe my DH is turning 50 today...that means next year this time it's my turn!

Happy Birthday to your DH! Your card is wonderful!!! That gorgeous vintage button caught my eyes right away! Great use of the sketch!!! Love the map and your distressing is perfect! I just know your DH will love this manly card (but I like it too) That is an old commercial reference, but you may not be old enough to know it : ) Hubby might ; )

I was just wondering how the wedding preparations were going - bet they're keeping you busy.
Happy belated birthday to Pat - I bet he loved this. That wrapping paper looks fabulous - perfect to go with the sailing ship.
