| | This is my card for CAS157-sketch, using three images.
I wanted to evoke rock art from the American Southwest, specifically the pueblos. I handmade the background paper using rock art image stamps (no identification on them) and stipple brushes with earth tone inks.
I stamped the spirals on the vellum that sits on top of the background with pigment ink because I didn't have any Staz-on or solvent ink in any color except black. It never dried, even overnight and with the use of a heat tool. So I flipped it over and put the "backside" (un-stamped side) up so it wouldn't smear.
The vellum has spiderwebs and spiders embossed into it. It came just like that from some scraps I got in a grab bag of handmade paper I bought at an art department of a university bookstore a few years ago.
Grandmother Spider features prominently in Hopi, Navajo, and some pueblo creation stories and spirituality.
I just happened to have the spiral paper clip and decided to add it to the card. |
