When I saw Holstein's penciled horse earlier in the week, I knew I wanted to try that technique. Actually, this card has a few techniques on it...sewing, pencil coloring, and stamping into embossing powder. First I stamped my dachshund image and colored with a No. 2 pencil..it did not turn out like I thought, but he is still a cute little guy! Then I wanted to make a dog tag for an embellishment, so I die cut a Tiny Tag from PTI and layered UTEE then silver embossing powder on it...while it was still hot, I stamped "Love" in the molten powder. I antiqued it with a little sponging and black ink then went to work sewing my panels together...unfortunately, you can barely see the stitch detail (photography is not my forte)..but I promise, it is there. I put it all together using many foam dimensionals and some Scor-tape(love that stuff!). The quote was found on the Internet and I printed it on cs. I added a tiny pop of red and put it over Bax's heart. I like how it turned out...it kind of reminds me of those b/w images with one color added to them. I am sure that has a name, but I don't know it. I thought I was done, then decided it needed something else, so I hand cut and scored/distressed the photo corner. I think this could be used as a Valentine or to give to a dog lover. What do you think? There are 2 hearts on this card, so I think I squeaked into the Free for all challenge and my stitching is for the Ways to Use it challenge...woohoo, 2 challenges with one card! Anyway, I had fun making this card but it was very time consuming having so many little details on one card. Thanks for looking!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! You MADE the dog tag - I'm so impressed with your creativity! I just sent you a pm and then popped back into the gallery and saw this special card. It touches my heart because everyone in our house is besotted with our little rescue doggie! What a fabulous card, Katie! I'm excited because I have the PTI Tiny Tags set so I could give this a try!

AMAZING in very way. I put it into my favs to try to incorporate some of the elements you used. It's just fabulous. I'm finding I have loved all the CASES that used this pencilling technique so I guess it's time I give it a try myself. As a dog lover, it doesn't get any better than this one.
