Before reading the rest of this description, can you guess what this bow is made of?
I was loading a new roll of tape into my ATG gun, thinking that it was a shame there wasn't some use for the leftover tape liner. Since the Christmas wrapping supplies happened to be on my worktable, I wondered whether the liner would make a bow like curling ribbon. Sure enough, it worked.
To give you an idea of the scale, the box is 4.75". The bow is made from 10 strips of used tape liner, each about 1 yard long. I curled them working from the center of the strip to each end. They are held together with a white twist tie (the type used for plastic bags).
The only caveat is that some of the coating on the liner comes off on whatever tool you use to curl it. It's not particularly messy, but I don't imagine it would be good to breathe it. I wiped it off often so that it didn't accumulate.
The hardest part of making this bow is trying not to tangle the liner as you unwind it from its coil. Now, don't you wish you hadn't thrown away all those old tape liners? ;)

Just changed by ATG tape for the first time yesterday and didn't think of using the liner for ribbon and I BURNED it in the fireplace last night. It did help the fire get started, though! Next time.
