I tried a new technique on this card - acrylic paint resist. This is the second card I created with this technique. It is different from my first red card in that I used distress ink and glossy cardstock on this image panel. The acrylic paint gives the trees an interesting texture.
CARD (5.5” tall x 4.25” wide)
Front Image: Snow covered evergreen trees
Front Sentiment: “JOY”
Inside Sentiment: “Wishing you joy during the holiday season”
I constructed the base card from cream cardstock and scored it at the top so that my snowy tree Christmas card opens vertically from the bottom. For the Christmas scene on the front of my card I stamped the snow covered evergreens with white acrylic paint on white glossy cardstock and then blended first a light green dye ink followed by a forest moss distress ink over the entire surface. I matted the completed scene with evergreen cardstock.
To add a little glitz to the front panel of my Christmas card I adorned it with a shimmering organdy ribbon. As a finishing touch I embossed the word "JOY" in gold on an ornament shaped tag created from evergreen cardstock and attached it to the front card panel with a bow.
For the inside card panel I printed "Wishing you joy during the holiday season" on cream cardstock in evergreen colored ink. I matted the panel with evergreen cardstock and decorated it with a layered strip of evergreen cardstock and embossed sage cardstock.
I also handmade an envelope from heavy cover stock to compliment my card. I decorated the lower left corner with a pair of stamped evergreen trees above the word "JOY" I penned in shimmering gold ink.
