When we got our October surprise snowstorm that left 15" of snow on the ground, all I thought about was someplace warm and snow free. This fantasy inspired my palm tree Christmas card.
CARD (5.5” tall x 4.25” wide)
Front Image: Beach scene of a palm tree decorated with Christmas lights & the guiding Christmas star overhead
Front Sentiment: None
Inside Sentiment: “Happy Holidays”
I constructed the base card from navy blue cardstock and scored it at the top so that my palm tree Christmas card opens vertically from the bottom. For the Christmas scene on the front of my card I stamped the palm tree on white cardstock and colored it using gamsol and colored pencils. I masked my palm tree with artist's tape and created the beach and night sky by sponging with a variety of blue and brown inks. To complete the beach I used a gel pen to add waves lapping on the sand. As a finishing touch I stamped a bright yellow Christmas star on a sponged oval of cardstock and popped it on the sky. I matted the completed scene with yellow cardstock.
For the inside card panel I printed "Happy Holidays" on white cardstock. I decorated this panel by stamping a string of Christmas lights along the lower edge and coloring them using gamsol and colored pencils. I matted the completed panel on yellow cardstock.
I also handmade an envelope from heavy cover stock and decorated the bottom edge with a colorful string of Christmas lights. This imagery compliments my palm tree Christmas card.
