Did you know that over two-thirds of car-motorcycle crashes are caused by drivers, not by motorcyclists? The driver either does not see the oncoming motorcyclist at all or does not see the motorcyclist in time to avoid a crash. I'll never forget a film clip (and that tells you how long ago it was) I saw in Driver's Ed. It was as if you were the driver cruising down the road. There was a pencil held in your line of vision, and when it was moved aside, a motorcycle was right in front of the car. Okay, end of sermon, but please, look twice, because cars have bumpers, bikers have bones.
In case you haven't guessed it, this week TeaPot Tuesday is all about motorcycles and road safety. The teapotters are sending their cards to Neil, a 50 year old father of two who was left a quadriplegic after being rear-ended on his motorcycle.
I don't own any motorcycle stamps, so I cut up a piece of DP and outlined the edges with a gray Copic marker.

Love the phrase, cars have bumpers bikers have bones. You are so clever to do this card even though you had no images. Wish my mojo were working that well.
Didn't know they were still showing that video in Driver's Ed, what was it, a year ago that you were 16??? Giggle

What a wonderful *sermon* Hilda! I so agree. As you probably know my boys are into motocycles, luckily not the street kind but its still a worry about their safety! Watch for motorcycles, be aware......its what will be on Neils' agenda for the rest of his life! How wonderful you made this awesome card for him....no motorcycle stamps didn't stop you! Its masculine, its perfect and he will be touched!

That's just DP - wow, you did good. DH was able to see the funny side of things that the cheapo, 50 thou on the clock, 3 year old hire car which is what the insurance company have given him for two weeks has less power than his beloved Ducati, so I guess he'd really enjoy the sentiment on this.

wow! Awesome, awesome card! This is amazing and Neil will love it! Love the brown monochrome look. The text is perfect and the logo/emblem rocks! Thanks for the story too. I know a lot of people who ride and I have seen a lot of riders give riders a bad name, but you're right . . . bumpers vs bones! If you watched the video, part of the message is to get drivers to be aware of bikers. My mom tells me that Neil's story is getting HUGE publicity and I suspect part of it is his attitude and the awareness they're trying to bring to this. Huge thank you for sending this to Neil
