Sketch Challenge 355 October 19, 2011
Jen/Miss Boo asked for the layout for this weekÂ’s sketch. Love it!
This 50th Birthday card is for my cousin Kim. We grew up together and are very close even though we do not see each other that often. SheÂ’s a few years younger but she followed me to college, declared her major the same as mine (math), followed in a career in Air Traffic Control (I lasted one year and she is still), and she pledged a sorority (red and white colors) although different from mine.
She is also a breast cancer survivor. She has remained very positive and is my heroine.
She and I always loved Aunt LainieÂ’s Coconut cream cake but Kim is the heir apparent to the recipe.
The Cake and roses are Sizzix, the leaf flourish Cheery Lyn Design, the banner flourish is memory box and the corner accents are cuttlebug.
Roxie, this sketch allow me to incorporate a lot of things for my cousin. There is a touch of pink in the striped designer paper, as well. Her birthday is in November and instead of the usual Happy Birthday sentiment I thought that Verve's, “celebrating you” says it all.
Thank you for viewing after the long story and description.

If you ever get the recipe, share it - I love me some good coconut cake! Is the kind that has to be refrigerated? Now I am wanting some!!!!
Ok - now to your card: it is wonderful! So full of personalization and love and beautiful details - it is a winner for sure - just lie your sweet cousin.
