I recently bought an altered arts book that centered on Marie Antoinette. I was enamoured by the incredible artwork and talent that the artists in the book portrayed! there were dresses, headpieces, altered art and so much more that I am simply incapable of doing...I do not sew, much to the chagrin of my husband! LOLOL....but then there were shoes! NOW THAT's something I know about!!!
My Dad was a manager of a small shoestore chain (no Al Bundy jokes please!) - my closet and it's collection of shoes certainly speaks to my love of shoes! and to consider altering a pair certainly had an appeal so of course I had to try it! I like how it came out and there will be more on the way - obviously the other half of the pair for instance ! _LOLOLOL
As recommended - I bought a pair of satin shoes at the local Goodwill - and then painted them Blue using Ranger Stains --let it dry well! -- then proceeded to decorate - the pleated ribbon and lace are attached with Fabric Tac-- Perhaps hard to see but the front of the shoe is decorated with Elizabeth Crafts glitter using the lace technique - in silver and white --- then I decorated the front using Glubers because of their stron adhesive quality -- used A Touch of Nature white feathers, Prima White leaves; Prima roses; Teresa Collins Blingage - some tulle-- a couple of beaded pins -- and finally added some Say it With Crystals bling...and here we are - an altered shoe that Ms Antoinette might wear! gotta love it! take me back!
Thanks for visiting!
