I know a lot of us were inspired by the poppy cupcakes at the Creative Cupcake Academy (Sep. 17 blog posting), and I was too. It took me a while to figure out how to make the stems, but I eventually ended up using some garden twine that I coloured with some Wild Wasabi craft reinker. The colour turned out just right, I think, and I like how the texture of the twine mimics the hairiness of real poppy stems. The flowers were each made with one punched flower from the Fancy Flower punch, and I distressed the flowers with my hands until I could peel each flower in half to make two layers. I didn't have any black brads of the right size, so I made the ones I had black using Versamark and embossing powder (a trick my demo showed me). The brads still weren't big enough for my liking so I layered them against flowers from the Boho Blossoms punch.
