I made a card similar to this one last year, but I wanted to make it more dramatic. Using a black card base did the trick and in my opinion made the card quite striking.
Card Size: 5.5” tall by 4.25” wide
Front Image: Flying bats
Front Sentiment: none
Inside Sentiment: “Happy Halloween”
I created the base card for my colony of bats Halloween card from black cardstock and scored it at the top so the card opens from the bottom. I layered the base with a hand sponged yellow and orange variegated cardstock. Flying bats punched from black cardstock are adhered to imitate bats leaving their cave out into the moonlight. The wings of the bats are popped slightly off the surface of the card front to give the illusion of flight.
For the inside card panel I printed the simple message “Happy Halloween!” on white cardstock and matted it with orange cardstock. I decorated this panel with a strip of the sponged cardstock used on the front of the card and topped it off with a punched black bat popped from the surface to tie it all together.
I also handmade an envelope from heavy white cover stock and stamped a colony of bats on the front lower left corner. The sponged background of the image coordinates with the colony of bats Halloween card.
