I was itching to do Joan's Technique Lovers Challenge ever since I saw it posted last Monday, but this week has been simply hectic for our family. Of course, when Peggy posted the Color Combination Challenge for the week (peach parfait, poppy parade and pool party), I knew what card I was going to make - a beachy one! It's the last few days of summer and I wanted to celebrate it (well, sort of, lol!). So, I tore pieces of blue card stock, layered it, then layered another torn piece of peach cardstock. I punched a crab from red cardstock, then used the rounded end of a paintbrush on a mousepad to make its body and pincers more 3D. All these pieces were used to "fill up the 'square' hole" on the card base.
The sentiment inside the card reads, "Listen to what you know, instead of what you fear." It is a quote by Richard Bach, who penned the inspirational story of Jonathan Livingston Seagull (one of my all-time fave books!). The sentiment was printed with the font Aeolus.
To add a bit of shading to the "waves" and the "beach", I used watercolor pencils. Then blue glitter on the lower right corner and a starfish (well, it's actually a button, lol!) over the glitter.
Thanks for looking and reading my rambling, lol!
