Such wonderful DTGD challenges this year! I was working on this for today's Our Daily Bread designs Blog Hop and wanted to try and incorporate at least a couple of the DTGD challenges. For this, I'm entering it into Carole's (TruCarMa) and Bev's (TexasGrammy) challenges.
These are copies of vintage (circa 1935) pics of my grandparents. I copied and reduced the pictures to fit. There were so many things I wanted to include, like a copy of the patterns of two of my grandmother's dresses (w/ material swatches) she made for her trousseau. But there just wasn't room and in the end, I kept to the same sepia tones of the photographs. Since she loved crochet, the addition of the crochet border seemed the perfect choice.
The sentiment is attached to an embossed vellum crochet circle. I flipped it over because it looked more like real lace then attached the sentiment and added the piercing.
The date w/ the hand stitched border, was from the copy of her dress patterns and is their wedding date in her handwriting. I included four buttons to represent their four children.
Thanks so much for looking! If you'd like to read more about them and how their story went, please read it on my blog: The Write Stuff. You'll also find links and more info there.

Omigosh, Julie! What an incredibly lovely work from your heart. I am in awe of all the fabulous details you incorporated as you thought about your grandparents and their special day. I know how much I miss my grandparents, as you must yours. What a wonderful and beautiful memento of and tribute to them!
