For anyone who has had to make a condolence card for their own use, you know how difficult it is.
As promised here come more details:
This is a 6x6 card that I added plain white paper to on the inside. I embossed the white paper edges with a generic butterfly folder and did the same on the front outside.
Next, I stamped the cross and quote on white cardstock with clear versamark (couldn't find my black) and embossed with black glittery EP. Then cut them out with and embossed them with spellbinders labels 4. I tried to achieve a glow from the cross in two ways. I used the nestie as a stencil and brought out the embossed edge with weathered wood (I don't have the black soot, yet), leaving a white area around it. Then for a bit of a warmer feeling I sponged the inside going from darker tatterered rose through vintage linen. Adhered them with double-sided foam tape/dots for depth.
I punched three butterflies in alternating black and white and covered the black ones in black glitter. I popped up the wings using home-made glue dots.
(To make the glue dots, I used labels paper left over from after I had used the lables and lots of dots of Aleene's Tacky to make a bunch in all sizes one evening. I folded the paper in half and they store well on the top of a pile of papers for crafting.)
I finished the butterflies with some black gem stone for some dark bling.
Thanks for looking and I hope the only sympathy cards you need are those you make on commission...

Oh Patricia, this is beautiful! I LOVE the sentiment.
I like the embossed butterflies in both colors and the
grey ink on the nesties is perfect.
Condolence cards ARE very difficult and this one is beautifully done - a wonderful tribute for your friend.
Thanks for sharing.

Magnificent! Wonderful way to show your heart on paper. Your design is fabulous, and loving.

Patricia, this is fabulous even though, like you said, not a card we like to have to make, but one that will bring some comfort to those who grieve. This is definitely one of those cards. Love every detail!
