This is the first time I've inked this stamp set since buying it. I had read some questions about how to best paper piece it and now I understand the comments about it being a time-consuming endeavour, as it looks better if you stamp the penguins a second time and add them on top of the paper pieced couch. This way, they look like they're on top of it, not burried in it. It's worth the extra time, though, 'cos seriously - how cute is this finished image?!
I paper pieced a seond piece of patterned paper on the couch to make sure the pattern wasn't all one block, but rather mismatched where there's seams. I think this zigzag patterned paper works so well for the couch! I also added patches to the front of the arm rests, a detail that isn't originally in the stamp.
I used a Nestability frame to cut out the image and used on of the tiny dies to create a frame on the wall. I embossed the die-cut and used the raised part as a guide to colour the outside with a brown marker to make it look like the image is framed. I then handcut a flower from the patterned paper and added it in the frame.
The design was inspired by this week's sketch on Alma's blog.
