Thanks for having a closer peek :-) My sweet baby daughter is turning 8 in a few weeks - I can scarcely believe it! Where does the time go? So, this is the card I made for her birthday which has lots of her favorite things: a cat, flowers, butterflies, rainbows, pink and tons of sparkle and glitter.
I stamped the Penny Black image with Versafine Onyx black ink onto 140lb watercolor paper and colored it with Faber Castell watercolor pencils and a small, round #2 paintbrush; I added some areas of pink and blue around the image. I stamped the image again and cut out just the wings on the butterflies and glued them on top of the butterflies on the main panel to add some dimension. I added some orange gemstones to the flower centres and both the butterflies and flowers have been glittered within an inch of their lives with Kindyglitz Crystalina LOL!
The ribbon was attached in 2 separate elements and the bow itself was made with my Bow Easy. I sewed the heart button (by Trimits) to the bow centre with pink sewing thread before I glued the bow on with fabric glue.
For the sentiment section of the Easel card: I added some crushed velvet brads (by Doodlebug - 1884 Pastel set) but didn't quite push them all the way through so that they would stick up a little and hold the front panel in place more securely. The sentiment panel was diecut using my CB and Spellbinder Labels 10 nestabilities.
Not sure if you can see, but the dp paper is very glittery and sparkly. I almost couldn't cut into it - it's so gorgeous but I have had it for 8 months so it was time to stop hoarding!! ;-)
I'm popping this card into the SCS Technique Lovers Challenge TLC242 of Easel cards from a while ago. Please see this link for the challenge deets and instructions on how to make an Easel Card: TLC242 Easel Card {10/12/09} by Lynn in St. Louis at Splitcoaststampers They are such fun to make and very easy - even for a technique-challenged person like me who doesn't like reading instructions for anything!!
Thanks for having a peek at my card. Please come and have a peek at my Blog - this link will take you directly to my card: http://instead-of-ironing.blogspot.c...rd-for-my.html I have lots of close-up photos and more in-depth info.
